Save the date Sat March 14, 2020 1:00pm-3:00pm!
Meet Nicole Calver, Guelph's Sew-lebrity.
Nicole Calver is a self-taught quilter who never in her life would have guessed she’d be quilting full-time for a living! With a background in street art and graffiti-style painting, Nicole came to quilting after the birth of her first son in 2010. Two boys (and a few years) later, and she’s developed a signature style that combines her love of colour (all the colours!) and print with a cutting-edge design sensibility.
Nicole resides in Guelph, Ontario, with her husband, two little guys, and Dottie the dog. She blogs at snipssnippets.ca
and you can find her latest work on Instagram @snipssnippets
Make 1 is pleased to be the host of the launch of Nicole's first book, "Playing with Patchwork & Sewing."
This amazing book appeals to the sewist who wants to break into quilting or a quilter who’d like to turn their blocks into something a little more dimensional? Take a walk on the wild side with eighteen projects that combine the best of both worlds! Create useful gifts and home decor, including bright modern quilts, a pencil case, notebook cover, market bag, and more. Build your skills one project at a time, with a hands-on guide to learning basic patchwork, foundation piecing, English paper piecing, and a simple way to machine appliqué! Each block comes in three sizes, so you can practice new techniques with larger fabric cuts before moving on to smaller pieces.
• Build your skills with eighteen modern projects! Perfect for beginning quilters and more advanced sewists
• Learn a new technique with a large-scale project, then try out the same block with smaller pieces
• Sew modern quilts, striking pillows, table toppers, pincushions, and more useful handmade gifts
Join us to celebrate our local Sew-lebrity's amazing quilting book. "Playing with Patchwork & Sewing." This is the quilting book that will become your favourite and live on your shelf forever!
I look forward to seeing you at the studio.
Jo and the make1 team.
