Ditch the wrapping paper this year and learn to make eco-friendly, reusable drawstring gift bags! You'll learn a few simple techniques and go home with a bag (or a few) you'll use for years to come.
Instructor: Becky Swainson
Number of spots: Min. 2/Max. 3 participants
Level: Beginner - you should know the basics of how to use your sewing machine and be able to sew a straight line - that's it!
- Bring your sewing machine and manual (or you can rent one here for an additional cost), along with thread and basic sewing kit (scissors, pins, seam ripper, etc.)
- Bring your own fabric to upcycle, or pick out some beautiful new fabric at the make 1 studio (wait till you see our Christmas fabric this year...). *You'll receive 10% off fabric and notions purchased for this class at make 1, and 10% off all fabric and notions on the day of the class!* 1/2 m of fabric will make a decent-sized bag (or two small ones), but pajama pants, a holiday table cloth, or a vintage sheet would all work! (I've used all of the above to make gift bags.) Stick with woven fabrics for this project, and bring them pre-washed and pressed, if possible. I will have ribbons and string available, or feel free to bring your own.
Note: Covid-19 precautions apply. This workshop is limited to 3 participants to allow for adequate distancing, and each participant will have their own workstation, iron and ironing board, and tools. Masks are mandatory!
