Yes, you CAN sew knit fabric without a serger! Learn the basics of sewing with knits, including all of the tips and tricks and notions you'll need to conquer knits and expand your skills. We'll sew the Lark Tee from Grainline Studio, which is a great beginner project for learning the basics of sewing knits with a domestic sewing machine.
From Grainline Studio:
With a modern, slim fit ideal for layering, the Lark Tee is your closet’s new best friend. It’s great on its own or under your favorite button up, sweater, or blazer. All four sleeves are interchangeable with each of the necklines resulting in 16 potential different tees in one pattern!
Techniques include sewing with knit fabric, straight seams, and attaching binding.
Suggested Fabrics: Light to medium weight jersey knits with a minimum of 20% stretch. Extra fabric may be needed to match plaids, stripes, and one way print designs.
Difficulty: Advanced Beginner (No previous garment sewing experience is necessary, but confident basic sewing skills, including following a simple pattern and sewing curves, will be helpful.)
Cost: $160, includes paper pattern, does not include fabric or supplies.
